StarPulse
Aesthetic Laser Treatment Restores the Natural Beauty of Your SkinMost
of us have areas on our skin that keep us from being proud of our
appearance. We often wish we could remove the skin discoloration or broken
vessels caused by age or genetics. With the new StarPulse treatment, these
effects can be greatly diminished, or, in many cases, completely removed!
We are now offering laser treatment for stretch marks as well as tattoo
removal.
Vascular
Lesions
This refers to areas of overgrown or enlarged blood vessels. These vary in
color from red to purple and range in size from a spot to large areas of
the body. Seen as visible veins, spider veins, or port wine stains, they
are quite common and are either congenital, acquired through overexposure
to the sun, a result of oral contraceptives, hormone therapy, or the
natural process of aging.
Pigmented
Lesions
These are light tan to brown and black areas of discoloration on the skin.
In these areas, the body has collected more pigment, creating age spots,
liver spots, freckles and brown birthmarks. These are congenital or
acquired through over exposure to the sun.
Does
A StarPulse Treatment Hurt?
Patients feel virtually nothing up to a sensation of a hot pinprick for a
fraction of a second. It is so gentle that local anesthesia is seldom
necessary.
How
Does StarPulse Work?
This treats vessels with a series of laser light pulses. These pulses are
absorbed into blood cells, causing the blood to heat and coagulate. This
leaves the blood vessel walls unsupported, causing them to collapse. Then,
after the treatment during the healing process, these vessels dissolve
within the body. The treated skin then returns to the natural color of
your skin.
How
is a StarPulse Treatment Done?
The treatment is performed in our office, and you should expect to be home
the same day. Treatment consists of placing a small handpiece or scanner
against the surface of the skin and activating the laser. Because of the
brightness of the laser light, you will wear eye protection.
What
Should I Expect After Laser Treatment?
You will experience a slight redness in the treated area which will go
away within a few days. Side effects are uncommon and usually minimal.
Your physician will give you full instructions for skin care after
treatment. We recommend you use sunscreen, especially to help avoid
getting these lesions in the future.
Before you
begin, we will perform a thorough consultation with you to determine the
nature of the condition to be treated and to answer any questions you may
have.
